The candidate responds to the question e ectively, showing reasonable awareness of context and critical interpretations. At times points could be expanded or explained more clearly. There is also a tendency to treat the characters as real people, with the recognition of the text as a drama only coming hurriedly in the penultimate paragraph.

To improve the answer:

Explain points and explore ideas more fully – especially context (AO3), and always bear in mind that the text is a drama, with characters who may represent ideas: they are not real people. Interpret techniques in terms of how they create meaning (AO2), rather than listing them. The expression could at times be more uent.
