This response shows a sound understanding of plot and character but doesn’t focus on the question of corruption and how it is presented. The answer is poorly organised and is repetitive in places. The candidate makes points and selects quotes to support their ideas but these points are often generalised and undeveloped, and the response lacks a conclusion.

Make a range of points in an organised way. Support them with well-chosen quotations or examples.
Explain how these points answer the question.
Pay more attention to the use of language, how this ‘presents’ corruption and to what purpose.
