Comment

This is a generally fluent and well-argued response, which explores the presentation of Boxer in some detail and has an awareness of authorial purpose. There is some close analysis of key words and phrases to get points across, and some evidence of personal interpretation. Expression is generally good, and quotations are fluently embedded, but the use of phases such as ‘So we see’ is a little too informal.

For Grade 7

  • Develop ideas about the social context more fully.
  • Expand the style of expression by using a wider vocabulary so more subtle ideas can be developed.
  • Vary opening sentences in paragraphs so that the essay can introduce ideas in more interesting ways.
