Comment

This response provides a clear and relevant account of some of the different educational settings Brontë includes in the novel. Most but not all points are supported by quotations. More in-depth analysis and more attention to the second bullet point in the question could improve the answer further.

For Grades 8–9

  • Incorporate textual evidence into all main body paragraphs to support points.
  • Develop more literary analysis of the textual evidence used, including discussion of particular language choices or other techniques used.
  • Emphasise a range of different characters’ perspectives as specified in the question.
