Comment

There are some good points made here and a viewpoint comes across but the style is rather chatty and informal in places. The writer needs to refer more to Austen herself and what she does, and there is little reference to language devices or techniques. There is one comment on context (AO3) but it is very fleeting and generalised.

For Grade 6

  • Use a more formal and critical vocabulary rather than chatty, informal words and phrases.
  • Embed quotations into sentences so that they flow and are easy to follow.
  • Comment in detail on the effect of language choices made by Austen.
  • Stay focused on the question.
