Comment

This is a well argued and generally fluent response, with evidence of personal interpretation. There is some close analysis of key words and language, though a lack of depth in other places. Expression is generally good and most quotations are embedded.

For Grades 8‒9:

  • Pick out particular words and phrases from quotations to examine in detail.
  • Support points with evidence from the text consistently.
  • When examining language use even more phrases for variety, such as ‘This could imply …’, ‘This also reveals …’.
  • Expand the conclusion, and the argument, further by exploring the ways in which ‘friendship and love’ lead to ‘hatred and war’ in this play.
